Our Christmas Letter
It really is the most wonderful time of the year. With so many friends and families gathering together, this season is truly one of celebration. It’s no different for us at First Christian. This Advent and Christmas season is going to be wonderful and we want to share with you all that is happening on our corner.
The theme for Advent this year is “Christmas Traditions”. Each week we will examine a different tradition and look at how it helps us live more like Christ. We will look at Nativities, Decorations, Reflections, Gifts, Light, and Music.
We will also gather for a couple of special events. The Health Ministry is hosting a “Lunch and Learn” on Nov 30th featuring Rev. Dr. Diane Bales on the subject of Holiday Blues. Register by Sunday Nov. 27th. We know that this time of the year brings a flood of emotions and memories and Diane will help us process and celebrate those feelings. Additionally, we will gather again around the fireplace for Caroling in the Parlor on December 18th.
Lastly, we have several ways to give back this year. Through the whole season we will be collecting children’s books (ages pre-K through 15) to support the Craddock Center’s Story Express Book Mobile and to support the Jubilee Partners Refugee program. We will also be collecting hats, mittens, and other cold weather items for the Church World Service Warmth Tree. Those items will be collected through Dec 11th.
We hope that you will join us for some if not all of the wonderful worships and celebrations throughout this holiday season. Bring a friend or two along with you!
Grace and Peace,
Alan and Justin
